You

You’re a caring, can-do person with experience working in painting and decorating. Ideally, some of that has been gained in a care home setting. You’ve got a good basic education with GCSEs (or the equivalent) including English and Maths. As well as being very practical, you like dealing with people. You’re happy building good relationships with residents, colleagues and contractors. You’re a multi-tasker who can work well under pressure and use your initiative to solve problems. Above all, you’re a team player who takes pride in your work and is committed to maintaining a safe, comfortable environment for our residents.

Your role

You will be responsible for both internal and external redecoration for Mountfitchet care home. The work will generally be on a planned/project basis but some reactive work will be required. You will use paint, varnishes and wallpaper supplied through the Property Helpdesk to decorate the home inside and outside. Colour, finishing texture and wallpaper patterns will be selected from a pre-agreed set of choices.

As our Painter and Decorator you can look forward to:

  • Competitive pay – we pay more than the average
  • Flexible hours
  • Quality training to develop your skills
  • Career progression
  • Bank holiday enhancements
  • Stakeholder pension
  • Childcare vouchers

Trusted to care

A closely-knit team of managers, carers, nurses and support colleagues – and each of us is dedicated to your loved one’s care, health and wellbeing.

I started my career as a healthcare assistant before training and qualifying as a nurse. That was 24 years ago, since then, I’ve worked in the NHS and in the private sector. I’ve worked in many different areas of nursing, from paediatric intensive care to end of life and dementia care, and also in management.

I joined Care UK because I wanted to bring my skills and experience to benefit an exciting and forward-thinking care organisation. I love the idea, at the heart of Care UK’s ethos, of fulfilling residents’ lives. I think it’s something everyone can understand and get behind. It motivates the entire team, whatever role they do.

The best part of my role is seeing residents happy and satisfied, and seeing my team’s pride in the way they help others to live happy lives and achieve their wishes.

Away from work I enjoy all sorts of things from holidays and sightseeing, to gardening, baking, watching sports, and going to the theatre, art galleries and museums.
