You’re a caring, can-do person with experience working in building maintenance. Ideally, some of that has been gained in a care home setting. You’ve got a good basic education with GCSEs (or the equivalent) including English and Maths. As well as being very practical, you like dealing with people. You’re happy building good relationships with residents, colleagues and contractors. You’re a multi-tasker who can work well under pressure and use your initiative to solve problems. Above all, you’re a team player who takes pride in your work and is committed to maintaining a safe, comfortable environment for our residents.
The safety of our care home residents and staff is really important. So your role will be to make sure the premises and grounds are maintained to a high standard. You’ll perform regular checks, carry out repairs and, when needed, contact engineers or service agents. You’ll be confident doing fire, basic electrical and appliance checks. Faults must be reported and actioned promptly. We’ll also expect you to keep the grounds looking tidy and carry out general redecoration work. As our Maintenance Person, you’ll be a valuable member of our friendly, close-knit team, promoting the well-being of our residents and the successful running of our care home.
As Maintenance Person at Care UK, you can look forward to:
- Competitive pay – we pay more than the average
- Flexible hours
- Quality training to develop your skills
- Career progression
- Bank holiday enhancements
- Stakeholder pension
- Free uniform
- Thousands of online and in-store discounts
About Care UK
We run over 120 homes and day clubs across the UK. We provide residential, nursing, dementia and end-of-life care for older people. As one of the UK’s leading care home providers, our goal is to help every employee fulfil his or her potential – with first-class training and support.
- Where you'll work
At The Terrace we deliver quality care for older people in character surroundings.
We provide residential, respite and day care and can also care for people with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, as well as physical disabilities. We also have a new specialist dementia suite on the first floor, which provides the very latest care for residents living with dementia. Find out more here.
We also provide day care older, local people who still live in their own homes, perhaps with family carers, but who like to have a little extra support, whether with their care, or simply some extra social stimulation. Hours are flexible, so guests can come as often as they wish, and they enjoy full access to the activities, meals and support services as our residents do.
Care UK is committed to ensuring that it employs people with the right mix of talent, skills and potential and will assess every applicant fairly regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, responsibilities for dependents, age, physical/mental disability or offending background. Having a criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from working with us, it will depend on the nature of the role and background of any offence.
