You

You’re a caring, can-do person with experience working in gardening/maintenance. Ideally, some of that has been gained in a care home setting. You’ve got a good basic education with GCSEs (or the equivalent) including English and Maths. As well as being very practical, you like dealing with people. You’re happy building good relationships with residents, colleagues and contractors. You’re a multi-tasker who can work well under pressure and use your initiative to solve problems. Above all, you’re a team player who takes pride in your work and is committed to maintaining a safe, comfortable environment for our residents.


Your role

The safety of our care home residents and staff is really important. So your role will be to make sure the premises and grounds are maintained to a high standard. You’ll perform regular checks, carry out repairs and, when needed, contact engineers or service agents. You’ll be confident doing fire, basic electrical and appliance checks. Faults must be reported and actioned promptly. We’ll also expect you to keep the grounds looking tidy and carry out general redecoration work. As our Maintenance Person, you’ll be a valuable member of our friendly, close-knit team, promoting the well-being of our residents and the successful running of our care home.

A closely-knit team of managers, carers, nurses and support colleagues – and each of us is dedicated to your loved one’s care, health and wellbeing.

I have been a qualified learning disability nurse since 1988, but before joining Caledonian Court as Home Manager, I was working as a Regional Support Manager. I was keen to join Care UK because of its good reputation.

To be a Home Manager, it's important to be logical, organised, honest, and a good communicator, listener and problem solver. It’s also important to have a good clinical skill base and knowledge of legislation and regulations, and to be firm but fair.

The most important part of my role is ensuring we deliver the best possible care for residents. I’m proud to be part of this team continuing to improve Caledonian Court and its outcomes for residents.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, rugby, cycling, travelling, reading, listening to music and chilling with my friends.
